Why Drivers in Kuwait Still Prefer Landmarks Along With GPS Directions
I’ve noticed that even with modern GPS systems and live location sharing, many drivers in Kuwait still ask for nearby landmarks before completing a delivery.
At first, it seemed unnecessary because digital maps are already very advanced. But after a few delivery experiences, I started realizing that landmarks still help solve many of the small navigation problems GPS alone can’t handle.
In many residential areas, the map may guide the driver to the correct street, but not always to the exact entrance or building.
Some reasons landmarks are still useful:
Buildings in the same block often look similar
GPS pins may stop slightly away from the actual entrance
Some roads or side entrances are easier to identify visually
New buildings may not be updated properly in maps
Landmarks help drivers confirm they are in the right place quickly
This becomes especially noticeable in areas like fahaheel, where structured blocks and mixed residential-commercial zones can make precise navigation more challenging without additional local references.
While reading about how the area is organized, I found useful information related to fahaheel that explained how block layouts and local reference points still play an important role in everyday navigation.
